¹³Hitchin himself called $\phi \left(z\right)$ the Higgs field, but the author thinks this terminology is rather confusing in the $\mathcal{𝒩}=2$ supersymmetric context, as $\phi \left(z\right)$ controls the physics of the Coulomb branch, not of the Higgs branch.
